Cobra Kai season 5 is officially a go over at Netflix!

On Friday (August 27) Netflix announced that it has officially renewed Cobra Kai for season 5 ahead of the series’ season 4 premiere.

Following the big news, the series took to its official Twitter account to spread the word with fans far and wide.

Check out their official announcement below!

The exciting news of the renewal comes just a few short weeks out of the 2021 Emmy Awards, where the show scooped up four nods– including one for Outstanding Comedy Series. It also comes on the heels of Netflix’s exciting announcement that fans can expect season 4 to debut in December of this year.

Written and executive produced by Josh Heald, John Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, the series is a continuation of the iconic Karate Kid franchise.

Cobra Kai is set three decades after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, but the tension between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) hasn’t quelled. In fact, it’s seeped over into their respective dojos.

Macchio and Zabka are set to return to reprise their roles for season 4. Both vets are spearheading their respective dojos, and going head to head with Johnny’s old sensei, John Kreese (Martin Kove).

Also set to return to the franchise in season 4 is fellow Karate Kid vet Thomas Ian Griffith, who will reprise his role as Kreese’s old pal, Terry Silver. In addition, actress Elisabeth Shue, who played Ali Mills (the girl both Johnny and Daniel were in love with as teens), is also on board to appear in the fourth season.

Production on Cobra Kai season 5 is set to kick off in the fall out in Atlanta.

Season 4 of the Emmy nominated series is set to debut via Netflix sometime in December of 2021.
