Netflix has implemented across the board rate hikes as their content library rapidly expands.

Get ready to budget a little more money for Netflix each month. All plans are taking $1 or $2 price hikes effective immediately in the United States and rolling out to the rest of the world in the weeks ahead.

The Basic plan with a single stream at a time and no HD picture quality is going up a buck from $7.99 to $8.99. The Standard tier allowing two simultaneous HD streams is going from $10.99 per month to $12.99 per month. Finally, the Premium plan allowing up to four simultaneous HD / 4K streams is going from $13.99 to $15.99 per month.

Netflix says that the price hikes are for “investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience.”

Notably, Saturday Night Live mocked Netflix’s seemingly endless supply of money and content late last year in the following skit:

Netflix last raised prices in late 2015 and late 2017. Hopefully we have to wait longer than two years for the next price hike.
