Do you enjoy rating Netflix titles out of five stars once you’ve watched it? Unfortunately for you, the streaming company is shaking things up.
Netflix’s five star rating system is fairly straightforward. After you’ve watched a title, you decide how much you liked it on a scale of one to five stars. But now Netflix is looking to make things even easier.
According to Variety, the company will move to a simple thumbs up/thumbs down rating. This will apparently start rolling out in the coming weeks.
Some users have already been switched over to this system as part of a beta testing period, and Netflix experienced a 200% increase in ratings, meaning that viewers are more likely to rate titles if given only two options: “Yes, I liked this,” or, “No, I didn’t like this.”
The added bonus to the star-rating was to see how other users had rated the title and whether or not it’s worth your time to check it out. Luckily, Netflix will now be providing a percentage rating to show you how any given title matches to your usual preferences.
So, for example, if you give Daredevil a thumbs up, you’ll get a high percentage match for Jessica Jones. If you give a thumbs down to The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, you’re less likely to see high ratings pop up for related comedies.
