According to Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos, Marvel fans can expect new binge-worthy series every six months.
Sarandos addressed the comic book inspired series today at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour. Sarandos acknowledged that Marvel’s Daredevil, which hit Netflix in April, was among the most popular series being presented at the TCAs — and laid out his plan to offer more content based on Marvel’s popularity.

According to Sarandos, he hopes to have a new Marvel series appearing on the streaming service every six months. Such shows would all be linked to the nexus of The Defenders, the Hell’s Kitchen hero team comprised of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
Production is ongoing for Marvel’s Jessica Jones (starring Krystin Ritter) which Sarandos says will begin streaming later this year. Development is also underway for the series bringing Luke Cage and Iron Fist to life. Once all four characters have been established in their individual shows, the heroes of Hell’s Kitchen will unite in an Avengers-writ-small series together.

That said, Sarandos clarified that fans will be seeing more of certain characters before the arrival of The Defenders on Netflix. Certain series — such as Daredevil, which is currently in production on its second season — will return for for multiple seasons before Murdock, Jones, Cage, and Danny Rand unite to fight Manhattan’s darkest enemies.
