Netflix might have pulled the plug on Sense8 but it’s clear the fandom wasn’t going to go down without a fight. Unfortunately, it looks as though the online streaming platform has officially put the final nail in the proverbial coffin.

Though hordes of fans took to social media in the hopes of rallying together and showing Netflix that there’s a market for Sense8, it seems like the campaigning has fallen on deaf ears.

On Thursday (June 8) evening, the series took to its official Tumblr account to thank fans for their efforts, and to let them know that Netflix won’t be going back on their decision to cancel Sense8.

“To our Sense8 family — We’ve seen the petitions. We’ve read the messages. We know you want to #RenewSense8, and we wish we could #BringBackSense8 for you. The reason we’ve taken so long to get back to you is because we’ve thought long and hard here at Netflix to try to make it work but unfortunately we can’t,” writes the official Sense8 Tumblr account. “Thank you for watching and hope you’ll stay close with your cluster around the world. #SenseatesForever.”

It’s unfortunate that this is likely the only explanation fans will get for why we’ll never get more Sense8, so the fact that the official statement is short and offers no real explanation is bound to leave a bitter taste in the mouths of some.

There’s no denying Sense8 was among one of Netflix’s most expensive endeavors. At the same time, it’s quite a shame that the online streaming giant wasn’t able to figure out a way to keep one of its most diverse shows alive.

We guess we’ll have to figure out how to cope with the fact that we’ll never get more by attempting to wrap our brains around the fact that according to Netflix, they have truly exhausted all options.
