Looks like GLOW season 4 won’t be happening at Netflix after all.

According to Deadline, Netflix has opted not to bring back GLOW for a fourth season.

The news of the female wrestling comedic drama’s cancellation is especially shocking given that Netflix had previously announced back in August 2019 that it had opted to renew Glow for season 4.

Just as it has done with freshman dramas The Society and I Am Not Okay With This, however, Netflix has opted to change course and rescind the series’ season 4 renewal as a direct result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Perhaps what makes today’s news even more of a bitter pill to swallow is knowing that production on season 4 was already in full swing when studios were forced to shut down back in March due to growing concerns over the spread of COVID-19.

In a statement confirming the cancellation, series creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch did not shy away from sharing their disappointment over Monday’s (October 5) news.

“COVID has killed actual humans. It’s a national tragedy and should be our focus. COVID has also apparently took down our show. Netflix has decided not to finish filming the final season of GLOW,” said Flahive and Mensch.

“We were handed the creative freedom to make a complicated comedy about women and tell their stories. And wrestle. And now that’s gone. There’s a lot of sh*tty things happening in the world that are much bigger than this right now. But it still sucks that we don’t get to see these 15 women in a frame together again.”

“We’ll miss our cast of weirdo clowns and our heroic crew. It was the best job. Register to vote. And please vote,” added the creators.
