After four years off the air, Fox announced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that they have renewed Cosmos for a second season.

Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey originally hit our screens in 2014, and was the critically acclaimed follow-up to the Carl Sagan hosted Cosmos: A Personal Voyage in the ’80s.

Ann Druyan, Sagan’s widow and one of the writers on A Personal Voyage, executive produced, wrote and directed the followup. She won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for Nonfiction Programming in 2014 for Cosmos‘ first season, alongside co-writer Steven Soter.

It is likely that Druyan will also be involved in the second season, as her production company, Cosmos Studios, will be producing the show with Fuzzy Door Productions, MacFarlane’s company.

Both deGrasse Tyson and Seth MacFarlane, who also served as an executive producer on A Personal Voyage, confirmed the news on Twitter –– even if deGrasse Tyson got a little enthusiastic with his n’s, initially.

Cosmos: Possible Worlds, the official title for the show’s second season, will return to both Fox and National Geographic in Spring 2019. It will air globally in 171 different countries, and 43 languages, via National Geographic.

Where A Spacetime Odyssey focused on several key figures who broadened our understanding of the universe, and our place in it, it is likely that Possible Worlds might take us into the more theoretical corners of space.

Either way, we’re excited to see what deGrasse Tyson, and the rest of the Cosmos team, will put together for us.

But for now, enjoy this brief teaser for the show.
