With Saturday Night Live being the sole live comedy show on television today, NBC is reportedly looking to create a live sitcom.

According to Deadline, Chris Moynihan, Sean Hayes, and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions has teamed up with NBC to develop the live sitcom which is titled Hospitality.

The weekly sitcom is set in a Manhattan hotel and follows the hospitality staff. The report also says that the show would even have live commercials like live sitcoms used to decades ago.

The news comes following the success of NBC’s live musical The Sound of Music in December and ahead of their next live musical Peter Pan this winter.

The network had produced two live episodes of 30 Rock in 2010 and 2012.

We imagine that a great live sitcom could do well on social media, where viewers are always eager to chat about what’s happening on their television screens. Social media networks like Twitter frequently see huge increases in usage during live television events, but right now the surges only occur around annual shows like the Emmys, the Oscars, and the Grammys.

Thanks, Deadline.
