NBC has axed two of their new fall shows, while Fox has positive news in the form of a full-season pickup.

First, the bad news: NBC has canceled new fall shows Welcome to the Family and Ironside after low ratings for the comedy and drama.

Replacing Ironside in the 10 p.m. Wednesday time slot for November and December will be a variety of original programming including new episodes of Dateline and Saturday Night Live holiday-themed specials. In addition, holiday music specials starring Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble are in the pipeline.

In place of Welcome to the Family, Thursday nights from 8-9 p.m. for the remainder of the fall season on NBC will be original back-to-back Parks and Recreation episodes, specials such as SNL Halloween, plus a previously-announced edition of The Voice and The Sound of Music Live. NBC also announced today that the Chicago Fire spinoff Chicago P.D. will premiere January 8.

Over on Fox there’s good news for the Andy Samberg-led Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The half-hour comedy has been picked up for a full 22-episode season. In addition, the network announced today that the show will have the coveted post-Super Bowl spot alongside New Girl on February 2, 2014.

“It’s exciting to see that both critics and fans love BROOKLYN NINE-NINE as much as we do,” said Fox Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly in a statement. “With Andy and Andre out in front of this incredible ensemble, it feels like this show is going to be around for a long time.”

NBC’s two now-defunct shows join CBS’ We Are Men and ABC’s Lucky 7 on the metaphorical Fall 2013 cancellation bench.
