Perhaps excited by the positive buzz around The Muppets‘ return to theaters, it was revealed today that NBC has purchased a new comedy about characters who live next door to puppets.

What’s particularly interesting is that The Jim Henson Company (the creators of The Muppets) has a role in development.

Reports Entertainment Weekly:

The project’s called The New Nabors, and its from scribes John Hoffman (Afterlife) and John Riggi (30 Rock). Lisa Henson, Jim Henson’s daughter who serves as CEO of the Disney-owned company, is also an executive producer on the project, which still has a ways to go before (or if) it hits the small screen.

Being Muppets fans ourselves, we’d certainly give a puppets-powered sitcom a try. Having Jim Henson’s company involved is reassuring as well. What do you think?
