Annie will serve as NBC’s latest live musical event.

According to Deadline, NBC announced on Wednesday (May 12) that everyone’s favorite redheaded orphan will serve as the star of its next holiday musical event broadcast.

NBC has tapped Robert Greenblatt and Neil Meron to serve as executive producer son Annie Live!. The duo are no strangers to working together on live musical broadcasts for the networks. Previously, both Greennlatt and Meron have served as executive producers on NBC’s The Sound of Music Live! as well as on Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.

Behind the scenes, the task of directing will fall to Lear deBessonet. Meanwhile, Ain’t Too Proud vet Sergio Trujillo will serve as the choreographer for Annie Live!. Paul Tazwell (Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story) and Jason Sherwood (Rent: Live) will design the costumes and sets, respectively.

Yet to be announced is who will star in the upcoming NBC holiday musical broadcast event.

In the past, NBC has managed to score the likes of Ariana Grande, Carrie Underwood, John Legend, and more to appear in its live musical events, so we’re sure we can expect to see some big names join the cast of Annie Live! as things move further and further into production.
