Naya Rivera is returning to Glee season 6, but there’s a slight catch.

According to TVLine.com, Rivera will return to the show that made her famous for its sixth and final season but only under the condition that she be billed as a recurring guest star rather than a series regular. This news might come as somewhat sad to fans, but don’t worry – it’s normal. Previously, Amber Riley and Jenna Ushkowitz were also billed as recurring guest stars but maintained a significant presence in the plot lines of the show. TVLine is also reporting that the change was a request by Rivera that the producers honored.

Rivera’s status on the show was left up in the air after rumors of conflicts on the set of season 5, followed by the apparent removal from the season finale. Santana was a large part of Glee season 5, so fans were understandably confused when the beloved character was nowhere to be found by the end of the season.

This news is also hot off the heels of the recent hack of Chris Colfer’s Twitter account that he would not be back for season 6. It was confirmed by his reps as a hack, but has many Glee fans wondering if the tweet had any undisclosed backstory. It’s curious that Chris Colfer was “hacked” last week, and now more casting decisions are being released.

Glee will return in January for its sixth and final season.

What are your thoughts about Santana’s presence on the show heading into its final season?
