If cryptic tweets are to be believed, there is some solid proof that Glee’s Naya Rivera may be leaving the show after season 5.

Rivera, who plays Santana on Glee, recently tweeted about filming a scene with her once on-screen girlfriend Brittany (played by Heather Morris). The tweet, which has since been deleted, said:

“On set with Glee shooting a very sweet Brit/Santana scene! #starttogetherendtogether”

That’s an interesting hashtag, there Naya Rivera. Obviously, the tweet suggests that the two actresses, who started together as back-up Cheerios way back in season 1, will finish their run together during Glee season 5. Heather Morris has been absent from the show since the end of season 4 after having a child. Her character, Brittany, is currently a student at MIT and has had no real mention on Glee thus far in season 5.

The tweet being deleted also lends credibility to the rumor. Surely, if it weren’t meant to be perceived as a hint of Rivera’s participation, it wouldn’t have been deleted?

Currently, Naya Rivera and her character Santana have a large role on Glee season 5, with Santana now a staple in the New York City plot line.

E! Online is reporting that Brad Falchuk and the writers and producers of Glee have already confirmed internally which characters will be making the crossover to the New York City-only storyline in Glee season 6. The same source confirms that no deals have been finalized for any of the characters for Glee season 6, however.

Both Naya Rivera the actress and Santana as a character are fan-favorites and would be sorely missed by Glee fans if neither are part of its sixth and final season.

What are your thoughts about the possibility that Santana will not be a part of Glee when it returns for its final season this coming fall?

Glee returns with its 100th episode tomorrow night at 8p.m. on Fox.

UPDATE: The original tweet has actually not been deleted and can be found here.
