After releasing a teaser snippet last week, Glee’s Naya Rivera visited a radio station for the world premiere of her first single, “Sorry.” You can listen to the track below!

Naya Rivera stopped by Power 106 radio station in Los Angeles yesterday to be on hand for the first spin of her debut single as a solo artist. The track, titled “Sorry,” features rapper Big Sean, who is also Rivera’s boyfriend. Sean was also in attendance at Power 106 for the single’s premiere.

Listen to “Sorry,” by Naya Rivera feat. Big Sean:

Based on the lyrics, “Sorry” is a song about the couple’s relationship, with Rivera’s parts warning other girls to stay away from her man, and Big Sean’s verse expressing his affection and admiration for Rivera. Sean also raps about Rivera in Drake’s “All Me,” another track in which he is featured.

The track has both pop and urban vibes reminiscent of 90s R&B, and features Rivera singing in her upper register. This is a quite a contrast to her most recognisable work on Glee, where she has tackled the music of deep-voiced divas like Amy Winehouse and Adele.

Glee stars Matthew Morrison, Mark Salling, Chord Overstreet and Darren Criss all perform as solo musicians, and both Lea Michele and Amber Riley have also been working on their own albums, but Naya Rivera is the first of the Glee ladies to officially release music as a solo artist since becoming a part of the Fox show.

Production for Glee was recently pushed back in the wake of the unexpected passing of Cory Monteith. Rivera was one of the first amongst the Glee cast to make a statement regarding Monteith’s death, and recently held a moment of silence for her colleague during an event at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy.

The star returned to set this week to begin shooting season 5, so Rivera’s blossoming career as a pop star doesn’t mean you’ll see any less of her as Santana Lopez on Glee.

Are you a fan of “Sorry” by Naya Rivera? Is it the style you were expecting from this Glee star?
