Fandom crossover alert! Game of Thrones alum Natalie Dormer is diving into the world of Harry Potter by becoming a narrator.

The actress will narrate the audiobook version of Harry Potter: A History of Magic, a book published last year. It’s based on the excellent new exhibition of the same name that ran in London earlier this year and is opening in New York this fall.

In a video unveiling the news, Dormer says that past Harry Potter audiobook narrators Jim Dale and Stephen Fry make cameos in A History of Magic.

“I’ve always adored the Harry Potter books, but it wasn’t until I started speaking with the British Library’s curators — hearing about the various myths, legends, and cultures that have helped shape the wizarding world — that I really began to appreciate the richness and depth of J. K. Rowling’s writing,” Dormer said in a statement. “There are so many wonderful details to explore, and A History of Magic unearths some remarkable gems of information that are sure to have listeners awestruck. It’s been fun to join the Wizarding World family.”

A synopsis says the narrators take you “from ancient China, to a 14th-century apothecary’s shop, on to the Salem witch trials and beyond. They delve into a rich body of writings about magic and explore intriguing artefacts to bring to life deep-rooted ideas of mysticism from around the world.”

“Along the way, you can listen for handy tips on how to capture a basilisk, make yourself invisible or create your very own philosopher’s stone. You’ll hear about the dozens of drafts and drawings that went into J.K. Rowling’s writing process and enjoy exclusive interviews with Jim Dale, Stephen Fry and illustrator Jim Kay, who all share their experiences of working on these incredible stories.”

Dormer’s work will also be a part of the New York exhibition by way of self-guided audio tours.

This isn’t the first time a big TV star was hired to narrate a Potter audiobook. Last year, The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln was tapped to narrate Quidditch Through the Ages.

The audiobook will be released October 4. The exhibition opens in New York a day later.
