It has been FAR too long since we have all visited our favorite southern crazy place, Nashville. Thank goodness we have new episodes starting next week!

When we last left off, so much had happened and the only way to get through it all was to rank who had the bigger surprise occur to them. You can read the recap here.

So let’s continue that tradition as we recap the entire first half of the season. Who will have be at the top of the list? Read on to find out!

9.) Maddie and Daphne: Despite dealing with Deacon being her father and the stress that puts on her relationship with Rayna and Teddy, Maddie made it out okay so far. She had a minor brush with her now ex-stepbrother, but other than that, these two girls are living the dream! All we want is more of their catchy songs to be featured on the show!

8.) Gunnar/Zooey/Scarlett: We’re not going to lie, we don’t really care too much about these characters. Haven’t since season 1. The arrival of Gunnar’s son, who was revealed to be his nephew, threw Gunnar for an emotional tailspin that eventually drove his relationship with Zooey to an end. Just when we were starting to like her. Scarlett hasn’t been interesting in a while, despite her mental breakdown last year. We’re all about her getting back together with Gunnar so we can hear their sweet voices making amazing music once again.

7.) Teddy: The only reason Teddy is so high on this list is because he thought it would be a good idea to DATE A HOOKER. Let’s say that again. THE MAYOR OF NASHVILLE THOUGHT HE COULD DATE A HOOKER ON THE DOWN LOW. In the finale he decided that this wasn’t a good idea, but we will see if this comes back to bite him you-know-where. (We bet you it will.)

6.) Luke: We have never been a fan of free-wheelin’ Luke but he had it rough this year. Not only did he get left as close to the altar as possible but he had to deal with his fiance winning every award he was nominated for. Tough break, dude. But he also had her previous true love constantly thrust in his face. Although, it was his fault he invited him on tour with him. It’s hard to feel bad for the guy.

5.) Layla/Will/Jeff: Will and Layla have been through the ringer, and Jeff is an extremely unlikable character. However, We are really into all of their storylines right now. Poor Layla, who couldn’t handle anymore rejection (from her gay husband and her one-time lover Jeff) took enough pills to OD and topped that off with a swan dive into a pool. Here’s to hoping she lives to sing another day, which is one reason we started liking her. Poor, poor Will. It may just be our love of Chris Carmack, but in our mind Will can do no wrong, even when he sleeps with a female reporter to maintain his public persona. Add in the devil in the form of Jeff Fordham and the whole situation is just begging to come crashing down around them.

4.) Sadie: Honestly, we don’t care much about Sadie either. We love Laura Benati, but her ex-husband showing up and popping her one in the winter finale sure shocked the heck outta us and made us excited to see her in the new episodes! Add that Avery is going to be her producer and we’re so here for more Sassy Sadie.

3.) Avery/Juliette: Okay it’s not surprising that Juliette is having Avery’s baby if you read any online source over the summer where it stated that Hayden Pantierre was pregnant. It’s not even shocking that they ended up fighting for most of the season and then agreeing to co-parent. It’s not even that surprising that they ended up getting married. We just love them so much. That is all.

2.)Rayna: Oh, Rayna. Rayna, Rayna, Rayna. Did anyone but you think you would actually get married to Luke Wheeler? The answer to that very obvious question is no. Everyone knows you are still head over heels in crazy deep love with Deacon. And you should be. I guess the shocker is that you are still trying to be an active parent in your kids’ lives and that you didn’t immediately go over to Deacon’s house following your breakup.

1.)Deacon: Deacon, you are the main reason to watch Nashville, let’s not even pretend, you guys. Your sultry voice soothes us as it turns us on. (Just us?) Your gaze can make any woman’s knees turn to jello. You are getting to be the father you were never allowed to be to Maddie and killing it! You expressed, one last time, that you will always love Rayna and that was okay. But now you have a potentially incurable cancer? No. Just no. Get better Deke. We implore you.
