Nashville is one of prime-time’s soapiest dramas and boasts some big name stars, but one thing is for sure: this show knows its music is the real star of the show.

The show was on a little break and before it came back this past week, it aired its second successful “On The Record” concert. Last season this was a highlight in a somewhat shaky season and this time it just proves that the music is one of the show’s biggest stars.

“Borrow My Heart”: One of the best things to come out of the season 1 love triangle of Gunnar, Scarlett, and Avery is their friendship. They played hot potato with each others’ hearts, creating a unique friendship between the three of them that is one of the most compelling and intriguing parts of the show. And when they sing together? Magic.

“If I Drink This Beer”: While Luke is definitely not a fan favorite because of his relationship with Rayna and his response to their breakup, no one can deny that the man has Luke Bryan-esque looks and pipes. Not surprising since he did a stint on Broadway. And one of the show’s secret weapons is Will and his amazing voice.

“Friend of Mine”: The two greatest voices on this show belong to Charles Esten, aka Deacon, and the Stella girls. Ok, so that’s three voices. But do you disagree? Add in Clare Bowen, aka Scarlett, and you have a song that will literally get stuck in your head forever. Bravo Nashville.

After the “On the Record” special came an all new episode. “I Can’t Keep Away From You” features some of the shows best songs to date. Check them out below and you’ll see a pattern from above!

“Broken Song”: Oh, Will. You sure know how to break a girl’s heart with your beautiful voice. The show is slowly but surely moving toward his greatest storyline yet, coming out, and this song helps pass the time until that day.

“Can’t Help My Heart”: Is Nashville trying to make us like Luke again? By pairing him with poor Sadie and making his songs some of the best the show has ever seen it sure looks like it! This song is just begging to be sung with a woman and Sadie turns out to be that woman, even though she doesn’t officially end up recording the song. What will their shipper name be? “Ladie”? “Suke”? Either way, here’s hoping Luke gets his character rehab he desperately needs!

“My Song”: Are you really surprised? Of course The XXX’s (worst name ever, by the way) make the list with one of the catchiest songs the show has produced in a long time. Why do these three work so well? We may never know, but here’s to hoping they stay together for a long time.

If watching these talented performers isn’t enough, you can actually see them in person if you’re lucky! The show is taking some of its stars and their music talents on the road again, following a successful tour last summer hiatus.

“We were truly energized last year by the fervor and passion we experienced on the road,” shared Steve Buchanan, President, Opry Entertainment. “We have been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to once again share the exceptional talents of our cast with fans from coast to coast. They are all rare individuals that excel as actors, musicians, songwriters and performers.”
