Back in January we learned that The Silver Chair would reboot the Narnia franchise, and now we’re learning the latest details.

It’s already been six years since The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and fans of the Narnia series have nearly given up hope at ever seeing another installment. Fortunately, with news that The Silver Chair is rebooting the franchise, fans now have hope at more than just one more film.

According to Deadline, The Mark Gordon Company, The C.S. Lewis Company, and Entertainment One will be joined by the Sony-based production company TriStar Pictures, which will help to finance the film.

This is great news for the film, as Sony is quite a powerhouse in the movie industry. They’ve had some misses in the past, but Narnia seems like a sure bet given the success of previous films and the built-in fan base.

As we previously stated, Mark Gordon will produce the film, joined by C.S. Lewis’ stepson Douglas Gresham, Vincent Sieber, and Melvin Adams. David Magee (Life Of Pi, Finding Neverland) has written the script.

The Narnia franchise is no stranger to switching studios, as Disney produced the first two and Fox took over the reins for the third one.

“Developing this project with The C.S. Lewis Company has been immensely exciting and a real joy,” Gordon stated. “We are so pleased to team up with our good friends at TriStar and our partners at eOne to introduce this new, magical chapter of the Narnia franchise to fans around the world, both old and new.”

It’s also great to note that Gresham will be on board for The Silver Chair, stating, “It’s been both fun and exciting to work with Mark Gordon and David Magee to develop the next Narnian movie, and now it’s a thrill to welcome Tristar to our Narnia family. I greatly look forward to plunging again into the joys and challenges of once more bringing Narnia to the screen, this time with the wonderful story of The Silver Chair.”
