Star Trek and Hamilton go together like rapping and history: you never knew you wanted it, and now that you have it, you can’t imagine life without it.

Jackson Lanzing wrote and performed the parody song “My Spock,” which takes on Hamilton’s “My Shot” and places it within the Star Trek universe. We know it sounds like it would be terrible, but give it a listen and tell us this isn’t one of the greatest things you’ve ever heard in your life.

The brilliant lyrics have been shared by Lanzing on Twitter.

Lanzing has written for both comics and the screen, and his way with words is apparent in this song. He somehow punches you right in the feels twice over — once for Hamilton and once for Star Trek.

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda hasn’t taken to Twitter to share Lanzing’s video yet, but considering Miranda’s devotion to the ever-growing fandom around his brilliant musical, it’s probably only a matter of time. He’s just as much a nerd as the rest of us, and it’s one of the (many) reasons why we love him so much.

Speaking of Hamilton, the cast got to perform live on the Grammy’s from their stage in New York, presenting the opening number to the popular musical, which hopefully got even more people interested in seeing the play. Considering Hamilton will be finding its way to Los Angeles and several other cities across the country, those same people will have a greater chance of actually catching the oft sold out show.

On the Star Trek front, a trailer has been released for the third movie, Beyond, with mixed reviews coming in from fans. A new television series is also in development, with Nicholas Meyer having just been added to the writing team.

Is ‘My Spock’ everything you could have ever hoped and more?
