Muse has released the music video for “Madness” – the band’s first single off upcoming album The 2nd Law.

The video depicts the “Madness” of a romantic relationship while a riot breaks out at a dark train station.

Listen to previously released promotional singles “Survival” – the official song of the 2012 London Olympics – and “Unsustainable.”

As frontman Matt Bellamy told Classic Rock Magazine, The 2nd Law takes some inspiration from movie soundtracks and The Dark Knight Rises composer Hans Zimmer.

“He’s the greatest film composer of recent times,” Bellamy said. “That song ‘The 2nd Law’, you can definitely hear some Hans Zimmer influence.”

The 2nd Law, the British band’s sixth studio album, is due Oct. 1 in the U.K. and Oct. 2 in the U.S. It follows 2009’s The Resistance, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and produced “Uprising.”

Muse will perform on the Daniel Craig-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live Oct. 6.
