Blizzard’s juggernaut of an MMO appeared to be showing its age, but that hasn’t stopped the planning process for expansions 5 and 6. Beta testing has only recently begun for WoW’s fourth expansion, Mists of Pandaria.

Chief operating officer Paul Sams spoke to CVG at a Pandaria testing event:

On the sixth expansion:

I got the pitch from Chris Metzen [Vice President of Creative Development at Blizzard] of what they plan for 6.0 and I’m pretty geeked up about it. They already know what they’re going to be doing for multiple expansions ahead.

On WoW‘s longevity:

“I think the future of World Of Warcraft continues to be bright and I think Mists of Pandaria is going to breathe huge life into what I believe is the best MMO out there. I think the number of people we have playing and the level of enthusiasm they have for the game suggests that to be the case. This is the next of many ways in which we’re going to grow and improve and evolve this game.”

This news is encouraging for WoW fans who might have feared that Blizzard’s project, Titan , would pull the development team away from creating expansions for their 2004 game.

What do you hope to see in expansions 5 and 6? Should Blizzard continue to focus on WoW, or should they move onto Titan and other projects?
