These new images from the X-Files reunion series will make you realize how much you missed Mulder and Scully.

X-Files is coming back for a limited reunion series on Fox, and Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are back as Scully and Mulder!

To mark the occasion, the beloved duo are set to grace the cover of next week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly. And on the magazine’s website, a slew of new production stills has also been revealed.

The images not only show our leads back in action, but also offer first looks at newcomers Joel McHale and Annet Mehendru:

Teasing the new series to EW, Duchovny says, “Mulder’s not in a great place. He’s wearing bad jeans, so you can just extrapolate from my wardrobe. He’s in a dark, dark place.”

Mulder and Scully’s relationship, according to Anderson, is in an interesting place (she did not elaborate on whether this is a good or a bad thing).

As for the plot, series creator Chris Carter reveals that we’ll be diving into some contemporary issues facing our society.

The X-Files ended right after 9/11,” he says. “A lot has happened since then. A lot of rollback of rights and liberties in the name of our protection. We’re being spied on now, we’re being lied to — all things that, for me, remind me of when I grew up, which was right around Watergate. I think we’re in similar and much more dire times right now.”

‘The X-Files’ returns to TV on January 24, 2016, immediately following the NFC Championship Game on Fox.
