To mark the 10-year anniversary of MuggleCast, we’re re-releasing our first episode.

It’s hard to believe that this show has been going on for a decade. Thinking about it this week, I realized MuggleCast is the longest I’ve done anything.

Episode 1 was released on August 7, 2005. In the weeks leading up to its release I went into the MuggleNet staff forums and asked who would potentially be interested in starting a podcast on Harry Potter. Leo Laporte’s This Week in Tech podcast, a show I still listen to and admire, inspired me to create a podcast for the Harry Potter fandom.

We were unsure of how popular a show about Harry Potter would be, but thanks to the popularity of MuggleNet and the fandom we quickly discovered there was a lot of demand. What still surprises me today is how the show still gets tens of thousands of downloads per episode. People still love Harry Potter as much as they did when we were in the middle of book releases!

Our goal from the beginning has been to be your group of friends who can never stop talking about Harry Potter. With Fantastic Beasts opening next year and at least two sequels in the pipeline, it’s clear MuggleCast will not be shutting up for many, many more years to come.

Thank you to everyone who has listened to the show over the past 10 years, and thank you to all of the co-hosts who’ve been a part of this with us. A special thanks to Eric and Micah who’ve stuck with the podcast with me over the entire decade.
