The MTV VMAs air tonight in the United States. Learn where to watch the Video Music Awards online and check out who’s performing.

The 2013 Video Music Awards may be one of the most anticipated ones in recent years. The show will include the first live performances of Lady Gaga’s “Applause” and Katy Perry’s “Roar,” which dropped earlier this month. Also on tap is the highly-anticipated ‘N Sync reunion, which has been all but officially announced over the past week. Related to the boy band, Justin Timberlake will be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Other performers include Miley Cyrus, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Kanye West, Drake, Robin Thicke, and Bruno Mars. Celebrities who will present awards include Jimmy Fallon, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, One Direction, Jared Leto, Emeli Sande, and Kevin Hart.

During the pre-show, a first look at the Divergent movie trailer will be introduced by stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and Miles Teller.

The MTV Video Music Awards air live at 9 p.m. eastern. Unfortunately those on the west coast will have to wait until 9 p.m. pacific time to watch it themselves.

How can you watch the MTV VMAs online for free? Online streams will be available across the internet as they usually are. MTV does not plan to offer a live stream of the actual Video Music Awards event for free, but you will be able to watch a backstage camera using the video below:
