This morning a reporter and camera man at Virginia’s WDBJ were gunned down by a disgruntled former co-worker. Now USA Network is postponing tonight’s Mr. Robot episode because of similarities between the finale and today’s tragic events.

In a statement, USA Network said they’ve decided to push the Mr. Robot finale back one week because of a graphic scene that’s “similar in nature” to the WDBJ shooting.

“The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia,” said USA in a statement. “Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.”

The Mr. Robot finale will now air Wednesday, September 2 at 10 p.m. eastern on USA Network. “In the Season 1 finale, Mr. Robot and Tyrell are MIA; and a past hack haunts Elliot,” reads a synopsis.

A re-run of last week’s episode will air tonight in place of the finale.

A trailer for the finale depicts several dramatic scenes including one involving police:

Earlier today we wrote about Mr. Robot and why everyone should be watching — we believe it’s one of summer’s best new shows.

The WDBJ shooter, who used to work at the Virginia news station, killed two of his former co-workers — reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward — before killing himself on Wednesday morning. Disturbingly, the shooter (who we are choosing not to name) committed the act as Alison and Adam were working a live interview. The shooter also recorded himself conducting the shooting and released his own crime on social media a couple of hours later.
