A new preview of the Ian McKellen-led Mr. Holmes finds the detective fending off the general public’s apparently inaccurate view of the legendary Sherlock.

In the latest trailer for Mr. Holmes, the detective tries to shake off perceived stereotypes that he evidently isn’t interested in portraying. The famous hat? “I never wore one.” Pipe? “I prefer a cigar.” And when Sherlock visits a movie theater, he appears disappointed in how the film industry is portraying him.

Despite not wanting to look or act like the Sherlock the public knows, he’s still the character we know and love in that he can’t resist taking on a case. This new preview finds Mr. Holmes deciding to solve one last mystery in his later years. Watch below:

“1947, an aging Sherlock Holmes returns from a journey to Japan, where, in search of a rare plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare,” reads the official synopsis. “Now, in his remote seaside farmhouse, Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love – before it’s too late.”

It is nice to see one small reference to Sherlock’s interest in beekeeping at the end of this new trailer. This particular story is based on the book A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin.

Mr. Holmes hits theaters July 17, 2015 in the United States and is directed by Bill Condon. After Holmes, Condon and McKellen will next team up for Disney’s live-action Beauty in the Beast in which McKellen will play Cogsworth.

Will you see ‘Mr. Holmes’ this summer?
