ABC Family’s Mortal Instruments TV series titled Shadowhunters has cast actors to play supporting characters Simon and Isabelle.

Alberto Rosende (a relatively new actor) will play Simon while Emeraude Toubia (also new) will play Isabelle Lightwood, ABC Family announced Friday afternoon.

“Intelligent, very handsome in a non-calculated kind of way, Simon is Clary Fray’s long-time best friend,” says the television channel in their press release. “He’s the first to find humor in any situation. An accounting student by day, Simon spends his free time performing in a band. His loyalty and feelings for Clary are tested as he fights alongside her on an epic journey.”

“Isabelle is an exotic-looking, model-beautiful Shadowhunter,” they add. “An expert with her whip, she’s as lethal as she is attractive. A trained fighter who can kick-ass in high-heels, Isabelle’s one weakness is her choice in men – always going for the bad boy.”

Author Cassandra Clare took to Twitter to comment on today’s casting announcements by addressing some questions from fans:

Shadowhunters begins filming its 13-episode season later this year and reboots the story seen in The Mortal Instruments book and film. A premiere date hasn’t been set.

Last month we learned Vampire Academy alum Dominic Sherwood will star as Jace Wayland. Clary, the lead female, has yet to be cast for Shadowhunters.

The waiting game continues.
