IMAX and Sony announced today that The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones will hit the super-big screen format on the same date as the film is released in standard theaters.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones will open in regular and IMAX theaters on August 21. It is being digitally remastered for the latter format.

News surrounding the highly anticipated theatrical release of The Mortal Instruments has been streaming out quickly over the past few weeks. Recently we learned about the film’s official soundtrack which will include new songs from high profile artists like Jessie J and Demi Lovato.
