It looks like Amazon’s Lord of the Rings television series has found another lead star in Morfydd Clark.

According to Deadline, actress Morfydd Clark has joined the cast of Amazon Studios’ highly anticipated Lord of the Rings television series.

Though Amazon has yet to officially confirm news of Clark’s involvement, sources close to the project say that the actress will actually be playing a younger version of a character we’ve seen on screen before.

Specifically, Clark is reportedly set to portray a younger version of Galadriel who, in the big screen adaptations of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, was portrayed by Cate Blanchett.

Those who’ve been tuning in to HBO’s His Dark Materials adaptation may recognize Clark from there. She plays Sister Clara on the series, which stars the likes of James McAvoy, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ruth Wilson, and more.

Clark’s involvement on the series comes hot on the heels of news that actor Will Poulter (who was also set for a lead role on the show) has dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

Poulter aside, Morfydd Clark joins previously announced cast members, Joseph Mawle and Markella Kavenagh.

No other casting announcements have yet been made, but given that Amazon plans to start production on their Lord of the Rings series out in New Zealand in 2020, we’re sure it’s only a matter of time before we hear of more casting news.
