We reported earlier that Ryan Murphy had announced through his Twitter that fans could expect Matt Bomer to be joining the cast of The New Normal, and now there has been further information about his role on the show.

In an E! News spoiler chat, extra details were revealed about Matt Bomer’s upcoming role in the series. It was already known that he would be playing Bryan Collins’ (Andrew Rannells) “sexy ex boyfriend,” as Murphy described in his tweet, but the reason for their breakup was unknown, until now. As E! News reports, supposedly it was because Drew (Bomer’s character and another new fact revealed in the spoiler chat) cheated on Bryan. However, not only did he cheat on him, but worst of all…with a girl. A pretty interesting set-up for the episode, and one that is sure to entertain, what with Bryan’s great snark and of course the opportunity for Nana (Ellen Barkin) to really have a field day with this bit of information.

Bomer will be added to the list of guest stars set to appear on The New Normal, including George Takei and Nicole Richie, which you can read more about here. His list of credentials, among others, is starring on Glee as Blaine’s brother (Cooper Anderson), and currently playing lead character Neal Caffrey on USA’s White Collar.

The New Normal‘s latest episode airs tonight, “The Godparent Trap,” on NBC at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT.
