Disney Pixar’s Monsters University teaser trailer was unveiled way back in June, and today we received a second, theatrical trailer for the Monsters, Inc. prequel.

The trailer kicks off with Mike and Sulley meeting each other in their new dorm. We then watch as the two develop a friendship filled with your typical college antics. Pixar’s standard sense of humor is seen throughout. This trailer doesn’t reveal too much about where the plot goes, but the film’s director Dan Scanlon recently said that Monsters University focuses on the pair’s attempts to get into the Scare Program.

Visually, the film looks absolutely beautiful. The endless monster designs allow Pixar to flex their vibrant-picture muscle.

Late last week the first featurette for Monsters University was released. It included a clip from the film and background info from Scanlon.

Disney’s official synopsis is as follows: Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right.

How do you think this film, known to the less-inform as “Monsters, Inc. 2,” shaping up?

Monsters University opens June 21, 2013.
