Sorry, Tumblr! Ever since BBC’s hit drama Sherlock first aired in 2010, fans have been begging for a crossover with the long-running Doctor Who. Unfortunately, showrunner and head writer for both shows, Steven Moffat, has recently revealed that it will never happen.

Talking at the first official Doctor Who Convention in Cardiff, Moffat was asked about the possibility of a crossover. According to zConnection, he said he felt the shows’ universes would mesh poorly. However, he didn’t completely rule out the idea of seeing two of Britain’s most iconic characters on screen together, saying that “a skit” was possible, although he felt the two “would probably punch each other or something.”

Bad news for fans of Doctor Who spin-off’s like Torchwood as well. With Moffat saying the following about the prospect of another show in the Who universe.

“I’m not against it: spin-off shows happen because you think ‘that is so good, you should spin it off’, but personally, I’m relatively busy.”
