In last week’s episode of Modern Family the grownups wanted to enjoy a night out at a new restaurant Jay picked out. But unfortunately everything seemed to be going wrong for the couples.
Claire has a hard time accepting the fact that Luke is growing up and wants to stay home alone. Phil fights her on it and they leave to meet everyone else, but Claire has a nagging feeling and they turn around. They head back to the house only to be attacked by Luke with his paint gun once they enter the front door. So they take a detour and bring Luke to stay with Haley at Jay and Gloria’s house.
Cam and Mitch have problems of their own when they accidentally dress up in the same outfit. After arguing about it and having a “who wore it better” competition they decide to just change their outfits. But when they go to get changed Cam purposely can’t find anything he likes so that Mitch will give in. Mitch has a trick up his own sleeve and sabotages Cam’s outfit by shaking his soda can.
Meanwhile, Jay has trouble just getting Gloria out the door. He struggles not to lose his cool when she goes to the salon to get her hair done. When she comes home she can’t seem to pick out the right outfit either. Somehow they still manage to be the first ones to arrive at the restaurant. But the hostess refuses to seat them until the entire party is present.
After everyone has arrived, Jay finds out that they lost their table at the restaurant. Gloria demands that the hostess seat them but only succeeds in getting them kicked out. Jay says they still had the best meal ever – but at a taco stand nearby.
The synopsis for ‘Modern Family’ season 5, episode 6 ‘The Help’ is:
“When Gloria hires a too-good-to-be-true male nanny (guest star Adam DeVine), Jay and Manny are pretty much dead set against it. Frank (guest star Fred Willard) is in town and feeling a bit lonely recently, so Phil and Jay take him out to help get his groove back. And, Mitch and Cam commission Pepper (guest star Nathan Lane) to plan their dream wedding, but Pepper might be dreaming a little too big, on “Modern Family,” WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23 (9:00-9:31 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.”
