On the last episode of Modern Family the family got concerned when Alex had a melt down after stressing about upcoming SAT’s. She signs herself up for therapy and learns that the root of the problem is that she feels like no one understands her.
Jay and Phil skip open house to watch the game while Gloria and Claire have challenges of their own. Gloria gets in a tiff with a mean-girl mom. They come to a head in Cam’s Phys Ed presentation of dodge ball, but end up bonding over their experiences as single mothers. While Claire comes to find out just how much work Alex has on her shoulders.

“Phil and Claire take Haley out to dinner to discuss her future, but Haley manages to turn the tables. Elsewhere, Jay’s friend Shorty and wife Darlene are back visiting, and they have some news that doesn’t sit well with Jay. And, Mitch and Cam decide to have a nice, romantic dinner date where they don’t talk about the wedding or about Lily, which then leads to a lot of awkward silences, on “Modern Family,” WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22 (9:00-9:31 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.”
