Since Modern Family’s showrunners love to start or end a season with a family vacation, we thought it might be fun to take a look at a few vacations where we would love to join our favorite Dunphy-Pritchett brood, and maybe cause a little trouble.

Our list is in honor of Modern Family’s season 4 finale airing tonight on ABC.

Road trip across the U.S. to see all the ‘BIGGEST’ things

In the penultimate episode of Modern Family season 4 we saw Phil receive a motor home from a client and the Dunphy family gave it a test run up the coast. We couldn’t help but think about how much fun it would be to visit all of the “World’s Biggest” things on a road trip with the Dunphys. Phil and Luke alone would be entertainment enough, but throwing in the annoyance of Hayley, the search for REAL educational opportunities from Alex, and the constant struggle for Claire to keep the boys away from her teenage daughters, there is no way we wouldn’t want to pack a suitcase and climb aboard that RV.

New York City

NYC has it all. Adventure, shopping, museums, parks, and fun. There is no better family to take on all the fun of New York City than the Dunphy-Pritchett brood. We would love to tour the Intrepid and MOMA with Alex, shop with Gloria, Cam and Hayley, try to photobomb tourist pics with Phil and Luke, and of course, hit the hotel spa with Manny. There is no end to the fun with this family, and no matter what aspects of vacationing in New York City you find most appealing, there is definitely a Dunphy or a Pritchett that would make an excellent sidekick.

On a cruise somewhere tropical

They may have made a trip to Hawaii, but there’s something about trapping this family aboard a giant cruise ship that sounds like so much fun! Just like New York City, a cruise ship is designed to entertain everyone, and with so many different personalities, the Dunphy-Pritchett family would be the perfect opportunity to put that to the test. Can’t you just picture Mitch and Cam reclining on the deck while Phil and Jay argue over a rousing game of shuffleboard while Claire sneaks off for a quiet moment alone? Not to mention all the trouble Luke can get into, especially if he has an accomplice.

Camping in the forest

When the Dunphy-Pritchett clan packed up for a week away at Dude Ranch, we all wondered how well this was going to go over with the more fussy members of the family (eh hem, cough Manny cough), but that vacation at least offered cabins and a cook. Now picture all your Modern Family favorites pitching tents, cooking their own meals over the fire, and stomping off through the woods to go find the water pump. ‘Priceless’ would be the only word that comes to mind, especially when you think about Hayley in the woods without a hair dryer or mirrors around every corner.

Colombia for a family reunion

We have heard so much about Colombian traditions and customs from Manny and Gloria that we thought it would be a lot of fun for them to return to the homeland for a family event, and of course bring the rest of the family along for the ride. There is bound to be some insane complications and nothing spells entertainment like watching the characters of Modern Family shift into crisis mode and save the day. Imagine Claire trying to help Gloria’s family organize a wedding or a family festival? We’ve seen her have difficulty interacting with Gloria (jumping into the pool?), but can you imagine if she had to work with Gloria’s entire family? Talk about comedy…

What kind of trips would you like to see the Dunphy/Pritchett family take?

The Modern Family season 4 finale airs tonight at 9 p.m. eastern on ABC.
