We learned in October that Danny Strong was coming on board The Hunger Games franchise to write Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2.

Now Strong himself is speaking a bit about getting the job.

“I can say very little about it,” he teasingly told Entertainment Weekly. “I was approached to pitch on it, and I just literally holed myself up for a week and came up with a presentation for two movies. I pitched my little heart out, and got the job. I literally can’t say anything else — I will just get in trouble. It’s, like, Defcon 5 on security over there. It’s really crazy.”

Strong is known for his penning of HBO’s John McCain Presidential campaign film Game Change and The Butler. He is also working on an adaptation of Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol. Francis Lawrence, Catching Fire’s director, will also helm both Mockingjay films.

The Catching Fire script was written by Simon Beaufoy with additional help from Michael Arndt. The Hunger Games was written by author Suzanne Collins and Billy Ray.

Catching Fire opens November 22, 2013. Mockingjay – Part 1 opens November 21, 2014 and Mockingjay – Part 2 hits on November 20, 2015.

The cast and crew of the highly anticipated sequel are currently shooting in Hawaii. In the latest paparazzi photos taken on set we see Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) shirtless and sporting damage to his face for a scene.
