Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 presentation at San Diego Comic-Con featured two great new promotional videos and a very fun panel with the cast.

Mockingjay, Part 2 stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Willow Shields, director Francis Lawrence, and producer Nina Jacobson were on hand Thursday morning to present brand new footage to fans. The event began with a series of District 13 rebels performing on large drums in Hall H, giving the panel an epic feel right from the start. The live drums were then replaced by a new propos video depicting Katniss and District 13 rebels in another drum-heavy promo (Katniss has come a long way from those bad rehearsals in Mockingjay, Part 1, hasn’t she?). Take a look:

Following this big introduction, things got bigger when the cast and crew presented the first full-length trailer for Mockingjay, Part 2.

“Katniss gets back into the action,” said Francis Lawrence of the new preview. Indeed, the new trailer depicted Katniss very busy as she motivates Panem and works with Peeta and company to plan their takedown of Snow. Our immediate impression of the trailer is that there is going to be a lot of action in this finale, and it looks like a major step up over Mockingjay, Part 1. Nearly the entire trailer depicted action sequences, and we think it was suggestive of just how busy Mockingjay, Part 2 will be. “Turn your weapons to the Capitol. And turn your weapons… to Snow!” Katniss yells at one point.

Speaking of Snow, he’s very present in this new trailer, warning Katniss of the mistake she’s making and showing the same confidence he’s always had in keeping the Capitol alive. Commander Paylor also has a nice presence in this trailer as she explains how they plan to bring down the Capitol and what Snow will be doing to fight back.

Jennifer Lawrence was asked about her favorite scene in the series and struggled to come up with an answer. She instead turned to Hutcherson, Shields and fans for help. Eventually she decided her favorite scene is one that’s in Mockingjay, Part 2, so unfortunately she couldn’t talk about it.

– Hutcherson and Hemsworth joked that they have an emotional scene together in the new film and even teased that Peeta and Gale may kiss.

– Everyone agreed the final day on set was emotional. “There’s no way of saying this without starting rumors, but that night we held each other and slept like puppies,” Jennifer joked. The cast also recalled speeches from the director and Haymitch actor Woody Harrelson.

– Asked what costumes Lawrence was a biggest fan of, she said sarcastically, “I love the wedding dress from Catching Fire because it’s understated.

“The wetsuits would be hilarious to take to a beach,” she added. “Also the orange back pack [from the first Hunger Games because I have so many memories of hiding my phone in there.”

– On filming the Mockingjay epilogue scene, Jennifer let slip that her nephew will play one of Katniss and Peeta’s children. As soon as she caught herself announcing the news she stopped talking, but the damage was already done. The accident occurred when Lawrence mentioned that she remembered Hutcherson playing with her nephew in the field they were shooting in.

– On adapting the section of the book between the battle and the epilogue, Jacobson said one of the biggest challenges was that “in the book, Katniss doesn’t know a lot of what’s going on around her following the climax. There’s a period where she’s somewhat in the dark. So you can’t leave your hero passively in the dark waiting for news, so we needed to find a way to stay with her.”

“Those who loved the end of the book are going to love the end of the movie,” Francis added, trying to avoid any sort of spoilers. “It’s really, really emotional.”

Mockingjay, Part 2 opens in theaters this November.
