I trudged through the rainy New York City weather on Friday morning to watch the final Mockingjay, Part 2 trailer.

As we told you earlier this week, the trailer can be seen on Samsung tablets in Best Buy stores across America between now and Sunday. It’s the latest partnership between Lionsgate and Samsung for The Hunger Games and may be one of the last. (Remember, they teamed up for a similar trailer-viewing experience at San Diego Comic-Con last year).

Upon my arrival I spooked the nice lady working in the Samsung area — she was so buried in one of the tablets adding the Mockingjay trailer that she didn’t notice me coming up to her. “Ahh! Sorry, I can’t help you,” she said (jokingly?). I wasn’t about to turn away — I walked across town through the wind and the rain for this!

I asked to see the Mockingjay trailer, and she brought it up on the one tablet she had downloaded it to so far.

The final Mockingjay, Part 2 trailer runs just under two minutes and offers a lot of the same that we’ve seen in trailers before this one, but there’s one big difference: Katniss is really angry in this one. Like, really angry. Much of the trailer depicts Katniss addressing the people of the Capitol and telling them to kill Snow already.

“We all have one enemy! And that’s President Snow,” she yells. “He corrupts everyone and everything.”

“Stop killing for him!”

We wouldn’t mind seeing Katniss just yell at everyone for two hours. Jennifer Lawrence pulls it off brilliantly.

A few other notes about the trailer:

  1. Seeing Katniss walk with the people of the Capitol is a powerful sight. We get an extended look at that scene here.
  2. Lizard mutts are on full display in this trailer, and they look amazing. Remember the so-so CGI of the mutts in The Hunger Games? We’ve come a long way since then.
  3. This trailer — rightfully — doesn’t show much of the actual battle taking place in the Capitol. In fact, we see many shots we had already seen in previous previews. It’s almost like Lionsgate is purposely saving a lot of the scenes for the movie theater (good idea!).
  4. We get quick glimpses of many of the characters in this trailer, including Haymitch (Woody Harrelson), Effie (Elizabeth Banks), Tigris (Eugenie Bondurant), Johanna (Jena Malone), and Commander Lyme (Gwendoline Christie). In a way, it’s like they’re sending off each one.

I didn’t try The Hunger Games virtual reality experience at Best Buy, but I did get the two posters they were offering. I feel lucky, because they’re my two favorite posters for Mockingjay, Part 2: The one of Katniss in Snow’s chair, and the one of Katniss with the Mockingjay symbol painted on her face. If you want some sweet Mockingjay posters, I recommend hitting a Best Buy this weekend.

Although I arrived two hours after they opened, I think I was the first person to come in to see the Mockingjay goods. The Samsung lady had to open the sealed poster packages in order to give ’em to me.

We expect the trailer to hit the internet this Monday. Stay tuned!
