Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward have teamed up again for Mister Moneybags, the unlikely romance of a straight shooting reporter and the businessman who falls for her.

About ‘Mister Moneybags’:

A new standalone from New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward.

I met Bianca in an elevator.

She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.

The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.

She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.

Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn’t appreciate the simple things in life.

So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn’t want it to end.

I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.

I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.

I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.

I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.

And she was falling for two men.

Only, both men were me.

And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.

Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for what came after.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

‘Mister Moneybags’ review:

Mister Moneybags wasn’t what I was expecting! Not necessarily in a bad way, but from the synopsis I can usually get a good feeling for how the novel is going to go. I expected it to be pretty predictable and a fun read. Instead there were twists that I didn’t see coming and a very real life lesson. It was fun to read the lighter moments when the couples’ back and forth jokes kept me laughing. But there were also parts of the book that hit close to home and made it more emotional for me.

One aspect that I wasn’t expecting was how quickly Bianca realizes Dex’s lie. I had honestly expected his alter ego to last a lot longer than it did. The reveal allowed the authors to tackle other subjects in the novel that wouldn’t have fit in otherwise, so it’s not a negative thing. But for those looking for a slower burn, it might be disappointing.

Bianca is a strong female character who isn’t afraid to go after what she wants, or speak her mind. Her strong will also almost causes her to deny her attraction to Dex, due to preconceived notions about him, but in the end she can’t fight what’s between them. Although Dex is well-off, and could easily be a jerk, he handles her feelings will care. The result is a couple that makes you swoon!

What was really interesting about Mister Moneybags were the family issues that arose. There were twists that I didn’t see coming at all that have a big impact on the couple’s journey and it will probably be relatable for many. Without giving away any spoilers, I can tease that it deals with the implications of the decisions that parents make for their children. Even when parents are trying to do their best for the kids, it doesn’t always work out in their favor.

Having to go through some really difficult situations together allows Bianca and Dex to grow closer. It made their relationship seem all the more real after everything they had been through. Even though the problems they had to deal with meant their physical relationship was put on the sideline for a time, it was all worth it in the end.
