You read that right, the ever so mysterious and deadly Missy, played by Michelle Gomez, will be returning to Doctor Who for series 9.

The last we saw Missy she was “vaporized,” though we had an inkling that she wasn’t finished for good when her vapors were blue instead of orange. Confused? Check out Missy’s supposed death below, followed by a clip of Osgood’s death.

It was clear from the very beginning that Missy might return, and now the BBC has confirmed as much. The Master, now known as Missy, will be making her return in the series premiere this fall. “Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I’m delighted to be putting my lippie back on,” Gomez states. “I’m positively dying to see The Doctor again!”

The premiere of Doctor Who series 9 is set to be a two parter, beginning with “The Magician’s Apprentice” followed by “The Witch’s Familiar,” both written by Steven Moffat, produced by Peter Bennett and directed by Hettie Macdonald (who was responsible for “Blink”).

And, of course, Moffat has some cryptic things to say about the development. “Everybody hide – Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect.”

Are you excited about Missy’s return to ‘Doctor Who’

Let us know if you’re excited that she’s returning or dreading it! Either way we know that the Doctor Who series 9 premiere should be brilliant if the minds responsible for “Blink” are behind it.
