Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children is going to be a stunning visual feat, if the new trailer is anything to go by.

Tim Burton is adapting Ransom Riggs’ popular YA novel Miss Peregrine’s Home For Pecular Children for 20th Century Fox, and last week we were treated to some beautiful character posters.

Monday morning, the second trailer was unveiled (the first trailer landed in March). Check it out:

The trailer introduces us to a world of peculiar powers and time loops, via main character Jacob (Asa Butterfield), a newcomer to Miss Peregrine’s orphanage, and the movie’s designated Chosen One destined to fight the deathly Hollows.

We also see him meeting his love interest, the ‘flighty’ Emma (Ella Purnell).

Of course as book readers know, Emma wasn’t originally this airy. Evidently, Tim Burton decided to switch Emma’s powers with that of a tertiary character named Olive; originally, Emma was meant to spew fire and generally be a lot more badass.

Of course Emma’s airbending abilities do come in handy, as is seen later on in the trailer when she helps the gang raise a ship from the bottom of the ocean. Does that distract from the fact that Jacob is literally holding her life in his hands through most of the rest of the trailer? You decide.

The rest of the movie looks great though. Tim Burton was an obvious choice for bringing this beautiful world to life, and the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory parallels are obvious. It’ll be a great visual experience, we’re sure.

Miss Peregrine, the owner of the orphanage who can transform herself into a bird, is played by Eva Green.

The movie also stars Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett, Terence Stamp, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson. It premieres in September.
