Fan favourite Robert Sheehan, who played Nathan in British superhero series Misfits, will star in a brand new British comedy from the makers of Sherlock. The series will air on BBC One later this year.

Hartswood Films, the production company behind Sherlock and Jekyll (run by Steven Moffat’s wife and mother-in-law) is producing a new comedy entitled Me and Mrs. Jones. Sheehan will star alongside Sarah Alexander (Coupling) in the new series.

The comedy was created by Orlane Messina and Fay Russling, and will be directed by Doctor Who veteran Nick Hurran. Alexander will play the titular Mrs. Jones “as she balances love, affection, sex and motherhood between an ex-husband, one grown-up son, two young daughters and male admirers with a 20 year age gap.” Hypable presumes that Sheehan will play either the grown-up son or one of the younger admirers.

“Producing comedy for the BBC is something we have done with great pride for many years and I am delighted we are back on BBC One with a new series,” said Beryl Vertue in the press release announcing the show. “Hartswood Films has long been a creative hub for comedy, and it is a genuine pleasure to be working with the talented team behind Me & Mrs. Jones.”

There is currently no information on The Moff’s involvement with the show, but since he has been involved in all of Hartswood Films’ recent projects we expect some influence from the head writer of Doctor Who and Sherlock.
