With most television shows nearing the half-way mark of their hiatus, we are going a little stir-crazy waiting for new seasons. We decided to channel that energy into explaining why we are so excited for The Mindy Project season 3 this fall.

The Mindy Project premiered in the Fall 2011 and yes, it was a little rough. But over the past two seasons it has refined itself into a shining diamond amongst the monotony of comedies struggling to survive on television networks.

When the season 2 finale aired, with the rom-com tropes from Nora Ephron movies past, the show seems to have hit its stride. The writers have figured out how to best play to the strengths of their cast and that overall, they are at their best when they’re writing love stories. This is no coincidence, as Mindy Kaling is one of the biggest proponents for full-out happily-ever-after sagas and stories.

Kaling and others alike have recently commented about the shift in the romantic comedy movies landscape – namely, how few there have been recently. We’re happy that this is where The Mindy Project can step in on a weekly basis and fill our quota for enjoyable entertainment week-to-week.

1. The first episode’s title of ‘The Mindy Project’ season 3 is:

2. The second episode title is:

3. After having an ever-changing cast in season 1, and some minor faults in season 2, we’re prepared to season 3 to have stronger characters, plots and more humor.

At this point, there is a core group of four – Mindy, Danny, Morgan and Peter – and the rest of the practice seems to come and go as they please, often just offering a one-liner in the scene and then exiting..

4. We need to see more wardrobe choices from Mindy Lahiri (both the good and the not-so-good).

If you’re really interested in copying her style, there’s an entire website dedicated to finding Mindy’s (both Lahiri and Kaling) pieces available online.

5. We miss Tamra insulting Mindy and Danny.

Even if they were strangely worded but accurate most of the time. We also miss (and love) her soft spot for Morgan!

She doesn’t really care to learn Mindy’s name until well into season 2.

6. ‘The Mindy Project’ has become the rom-com show we didn’t know we wanted…

…but now know we need. Especially the bits that include Mindy and Danny. Whether they’re teasing each other in the break room or exchanging glances (and kisses!) we love their amazing chemistry and repertoire.

7. There are endless possibilities for Chris Messina to top last year’s Aaliyah performance in the ‘The Mindy Project’ season 2 Christmas episode.

Especially now that ‘they’re a couple, bitches.’ We know Danny loves to please Mindy.

8. Mindy and Danny are the new Lucy and Ricky.

According to Mindy Kaling herself at the Television Critics Association Press Tour last Sunday.

9. They have officially signed an actress to play Danny’s mom.

Given what we know about Danny’s family already, she’s sure to be a great character addition to the show.

‘The Mindy Project’ returns September 16 at 9:30 p.m. on Fox.

What are you looking forward to seeing in The Mindy Project season 3?
