In last week’s episode of The Mindy Project not only does Mindy have to deal with her relationship being long distance, but she also feels lonely at the office when everyone seems to prefer Paul over her. Later, when the whole office goes out for drinks Mindy challenges Paul to a shot off for the rights to the office. Being a lightweight, Paul can’t take as many drinks as her and ends up passing out. Mindy drags him back to his apartment (which is Danny’s old one) and leaves him out in the hallway.

The next morning, Christina (Danny’s ex) finds Paul in the hallway and they end up hooking up. Fraught with guilt Paul confesses to Mindy who tries to help him cover it up. This results in Danny confronting Mindy because he thinks she cheated on Casey with Danny. When Paul admits the truth Danny punches him in the face and storms out when Jeremy won’t fire Paul. When Mindy coaxes Danny to come back they find Paul has quit and left behind a voice recording for them.
