Emma Thompson has signed on to play a talkshow host in Mindy Kaling’s new movie.

Two amazing women are uniting for what sounds like an amazing project: Variety reports that Emma Thompson is set to star in an untitled film by The Mindy Project‘s Mindy Kaling.

Thompson will play a veteran late night talkshow host whose show is suddenly in jeopardy after she hires her first female writer. Kaling will also play this writer, in a curious imitation of reality.

The movie has been described as The Devil Wears Prada meets Broadcast News, and we’re really looking forward to seeing Mindy Kaling’s spin on this industry, especially with Emma Thompson in the lead role.

At the moment there is only one major female late night host on TV: Samantha Bee, whose amazing Full Frontal runs on CBS. (Ellen DeGeneres doesn’t count, since Ellen is a daytime show.) Chelsea Handler also has a series on Netflix, though you can watch that any time.

Otherwise all the big networks have male hosts: Conan O’Brien, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Trevor Noah, John Oliver and Stephen Colbert are at the top of the totem pole.

Mindy Kaling is best known for her work on TV series The Office and The Mindy Project (now on Hulu).

She’s also got a number of upcoming projects that we’re super excited about: The all-female Ocean’s Eleven movie, in which she co-stars with Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock, and Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time.
