Mindy Kaling is gearing up to join the Netflix family.

Netflix has given a 10-episode order to a brand new coming-of-age comedy from Mindy Kaling.

Co-created by Kaling and Lang Fisher, the currently untitled series is said to be inspired by Kaling’s own life.

The online streaming giant took to their See What’s Next Twitter account to share the good news.

“Netflix has ordered a coming-of-age series from @mindykaling about the complicated life of a modern-day first generation Indian American teenage girl, inspired by Kaling’s own childhood,” tweeted Netflix. “The 10-episode series is co-created by Kaling and @louielang, who will also serve as co-showrunners.”

In an interview with Variety, Kaling revealed that Netflix actually approached her about “doing a series on young Mindy.”

“I wasn’t interested in telling a period piece about an Indian girl rowing up in the ‘80s,” Kaling told Variety. “But I told them I’d love to do a show about a 15-year-old Indian girl now.”

In addition, Kaling took to her own Twitter share a bit more about what we can expect from her upcoming series.

“Get ready for lots of relatable, awkward teen moments,” teased Kaling. “More coming soon!”

There’s currently no word on when we can expect the series to premiere via Netflix, but it’s safe to say we’ll be looking forward to hearing more as the series moves further and further into production!
