Dafne Keen may have made for the perfect X-23 in Logan, but it turns out the role almost went to none other than Millie Bobby Brown!

Brown recently sat down with Evan Rachel Wood as part of Variety’s Actors on Actors series where she revealed that she actually read for the role of Laura.

Though Brown eventually lost out to newcomer Dafne Keen, she must have made it fairly far in the audition process. During the interview the young star even recounted reading lines opposite Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman.

“I was like, ‘It’s going to be amazing, I’m going to really prepare,’” Brown told Wood of her audition. “Honestly, for me, it felt so — I felt an actor, in the audition room, hitting Hugh Jackman, and James Mangold sitting right in front of me.”

Brown may have lost out to Keen for the coveted role, but it’s clear she’s got no hard feelings toward the rising star. In fact, the Stranger Things star even made it a point to give Keen a shout out during her chat with Wood.

“I watched it; she was incredible,” said Brown of Keen.

As much fun as it would have been to see what Millie Bobby Brown could have done with the role of Laura Kinney, there’s no denying producers made the right choice going with Keen. We can’t imagine anyone else embodying Laura — especially now that we’ve experienced the epicness that is Logan!
