Microsoft has released a lengthy video showing off the capabilities of IllumiRoom, a projector that works with the next-gen Xbox to create illusions in your living room. In other news, Notch has released a simple browser-based game, there’s a teaser site up for the next Call of Duty title, and a new trailer for Watch Dogs.

Following a short teaser at CES earlier this year, Microsoft has released a proof-of-concept video for IllumiRoom. IllumiRoom is a projector that sits on your coffee table. Coupled with a Kinect and a next-gen Xbox, IllumiRoom essentially extends your TV by projecting certain aspects of the game or movie onto the room surrounding the screen. Illumiroom creates illusions – snow, gunfire, explosions, or simply a wider field of view.

The illusions change as you play through games. A particularly striking example shown in the video is in a driving game. The lighting in your room changes as you drive in the game.

It’s worth stressing that this is very much a proof-of-concept video, and is not likely to become a consumer product for the foreseeable future.

Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson has released a browser-based game named Drop. It’s a straightforward but addictive game that tests your typing speed. We’re pretty terrible at typing under pressure and have barely managed to reach 150 points.

The Call of Duty website has been updated with what appears to be a teaser for the next installment in the franchise, Ghosts. The teaser page is an image built up of the Twitter profile pictures of those tweeting with the hashtag #CallofDuty. The title is expected to be revealed on May 1, according to IGN.

One of the biggest surprises from last year’s E3, Watch Dogs, has a release date and another trailer. Watch Dogs has you play as a vigilante, Aiden Pierce, who uses hacking and brute force to turn a corrupt city upside down.

Watch Dogs releases in North America on November 19, Australia on November 21, and Europe on November 22. It is currently set for release on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and the Playstation 4 (as a launch title).
