Michelle Pfeiffer is gearing up to star in Showtime’s upcoming First Ladies anthology series.

According to Deadline, Academy Award nominee Michelle Pfeiffer has officially signed on to take on the role of former First Lady Betty Ford in an upcoming anthology series coming down the pipeline at Showtime.

The series, which is currently going by the working title of First Ladies, boasts Academy Award winner Viola Davis as an executive producer.

In addition to producing, Davis is also set to appear in the anthology series where she’ll be portraying Michelle Obama.

Per the series’ official longline, First Ladies takes place in the East Wing of the White House, where many of history’s most impactful and world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic first ladies. The series promises to “peel back the curtain on the personal and political lives of these enigmatic women.”

Both Pfeiffer and Davis will appear as part of the anthology series’ first season, which will focus on Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford, and Michelle Obama.

Others involved behind the scenes on the project include The Undoing’s Susanne Bier, who will serve as director and executive producer on the series. Meanwhile, Aaron Cooley will serve as the series’ writer.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see First Ladies debut via Showtime.
