Michael Scott has just been revealed as the second author of the ongoing series of e-shorts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. He follows Eoin Colfer, the author of the first e-short.

Michael Scott is probably best known for the his series of Nicholas Flammel books. His e-short is entitled The Nameless City and can be pre-ordered on Amazon for $2.61 or £1.99. The e-shorts are released on the 23rd of each month to coincide with November 23 being the official 50th anniversary date.

The story focuses on the second doctor, and a portion can be previewed at The Guardian. According to the official description:

When Jamie McCrimmon brings the Second Doctor a mysterious book, little does he realise the danger contained within its pages. The book transports the TARDIS to a terrifying glass city on a distant world, where the Archons are intent on getting revenge on the Time Lord for an ancient grudge.

In case the word “Archon” sounds familiar to you, its roots are Greek meaning “ruler”. The term has been used in sci-fi before. There is a rather famous episode of the original Star Trek series entitled “The Return of the Archons”. There as also an episode of the cult classic 1970’s TV series Space 1999 in which Patrick Trouton (who was coincidentally or not so coincidentally the second Doctor) played a character called Archon.

Are you familiar with Michael Scott’s work? How do you think he will do as an e-short author?
